For those who have never heard of Simona, she is a Romanian professional tennis player. The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) ranked her world No. 1 in singles on two separate occasions between 2017 and 2019. She reached the No. 1 ranking for the first time on October 9, 2017.
Simona is near to reach the world number one ranking after defeating Chinese Wang Qiang to finally reach the semi-finals. She needs to reach the Saturday’s final to detrone Naomi Osaka off from the top women’s rankings.

Simona was 5-1 down in the second set but definitely came back with a stunning won of six consecutive games.
Her coach said she was rushing a bit and that she needs to calm down. Following the advice, she dominated the match.
The Romanian player will face the world number five, Pliskova in the last four, after the Czech beat Marketa Vondrousov with 6-3 6-4.
The other semi-final will be played between the estonian Annet Kontaveit and the australian Ashleigh Barty.
